What it’s like to work with me

What it's like to work with me. Neurodivergent, and it's why the strategy works: divergent thinking, pattern recognition, simple usable steps.

I'm Davidson. Here's what you can expect, so you know before we ever get on a call.

How my brain works

  • I'm neurodivergent. Like many women, I didn't know until my forties. I always knew my brain worked differently, back to grade school. For a long time that felt like something was wrong with me. Understanding how my brain actually works turned it into an asset, and it's a big part of what I bring to the table.

  • I think in bullet points. I connect large amounts of information quickly. I can see through chaos and critique to the simple, actionable version.

  • It's also why I'm good at strategy. The solutions work because they're built on what the client actually needs and on the real situation: the culture, the teams, the way things get done there.

  • Then I turn it into something people can use: clear steps, a program, a map, a process. Whatever gets people engaged and moving.

  • My top two values are efficiency and integrity. I love owning my own business, because I get to stand in those values, lead the direction of the work, and always do what's right for the client.

What that looks like in the work

  • You get the read fast, in plain words.

  • Everything ends in something you can act on right away.

  • The simplest version that still works. Simplified, and complete.

  • I ask more than I tell. Then I tell you straight.

  • Expect some dry humor along the way. Hard work goes better with some joy in it.

The coach in everything

  • I've been a certified professional coach for a long time, and it shows up in all of the work, coaching or consulting.

  • High emotional intelligence and awareness of what's happening in the room.

  • Practicality. People leave with actionable steps and solutions they can implement now.

What people say once they know me

  • People who meet me through consulting sometimes say I came across as intimidating at first: fast-paced, sharp, confident. Once they get to know me, they say they can't imagine ever feeling that way.

  • Coaching clients, and the young consultants I've mentored and trained, see the other side right away: connected, deeply caring, and invested in their growth. Many of them stay in touch for years, and I'm grateful for that. Watching people I've worked with keep growing, and still call, is one of the best parts of this job.

A few things about me

  • Baseball. St. Louis Cardinals, for life. I grew up driving cross-country every summer to St. Louis, where my family is from, to watch Ozzie Smith play. He's my favorite player, and he's the reason I started gymnastics. This past summer my kids and I watched the Yankees play the Cubs at Wrigley, then went on to New York and watched the Cardinals absolutely crush the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. A summer highlight that will live on as a favorite family memory.

  • Sports. Gymnastics, track, and ballet growing up. Junior Olympics for track at 13. The Portland Trail Blazers stunt team in college.

  • Portland. Por Qué No for Mexican food. Sterling Coffee and Fresh Pot for coffee. Any amount of time in Powell's Books or Rose City Comics. Favorite neighborhoods: Hawthorne, Alberta, and Mississippi.

  • Resetting. Laughing with people I love, getting outside, and taking local adventures to our favorite neighborhoods. Or a movie marathon with my kids.

  • The goat. The Goat mark on this site is a line drawing inspired by one of my tattoos, beautifully created by Jeff P, tattoo artist at Tattoo Smile in Portland, Oregon. The version you see here is an AI take inspired by his original. Support his work, visit the shop, or book a tattoo. Also: I'm a Capricorn, born in the Year of the Goat. I think we can all see how that got me to where I am today.
